Transbox, Barge Line TODAY and United Container Transport start operational cooperation in ARA transports
As from 12 September 2011 on, the three container barge operators Transbox, Barge Line TODAY and United Container Transport will start an operational cooperation, through a “Vessel Sharing Agreement” under the name of United Barge Transport Alliance (UBTA) in the ARA range.
The three container barge operators, being united in the United Barge Transport Alliance, will deploy several vessels on both intra-port transports in Rotterdam and Antwerp as well as on the routes between the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp and Moerdijk. Through joining operational forces in the United Barge Transport Alliance, Transbox, Barge Line TODAY and United Container Transport will be enabled to provide a very reliable, frequent and cost-efficient barge service to the market place.
Transbox, Barge Line TODAY and United Container Transport will provide the following container services:
• Intra-port transport in Rotterdam
• Intra-port transport in Antwerp
• Inter-port transport between Rotterdam and Antwerp and vice versa
• Inter-port transport between Rotterdam and Moerdijk and vice versa
• Inter-port transport between Antwerp and Moerdijk and vice versa
Through this strictly operational cooperation the United Barge Transport Alliance will be able to serve the market even better. Transbox, Barge Line TODAY and United Container Transport are looking forward to this cooperation with great confidence.
The front-offices of the three container barge operators will remain separate entities.

United Container Transport is based in Brasschaat (BEL). Since 2008 United Container Transport is active in container transport activities in the ARA range, Terneuzen and Vlissingen. United Container Transport is 100% subsidiary of barge operator SteJa Transport International also being based in Brasschaat.
